Job Description

Job Title:   Senior Store Associate

Charity:    LiveCareGive Charity Shop,  on behalf of LASC Childcare Services Ltd

Location:   Portobello

Salary:  Negotiable - We are a Real living Wage Employer

Job Type:  Permanent

Working Days:  2 days over 7 (includes weekends)

Hours:  14 hours per week and additional hours throughout the year to cover annual leave/sickness

 

LASC Childcare Services is a voluntary organisation with Scottish charity status. Our board is made up entirely of local parents and residents. We are regulated by the Care Inspectorate and are accredited with the “Aiming High” Quality Assurance award.

We opened in Loanhead in October 1995, when parents on the Parents Council of the local school identified a need for an out of school care service. We are very proud of how much we have achieved and expanded since then. We have 6 children’s services registered with the Care Inspectorate along with a Community Centre and Additional Support Needs Young Adults Service, supporting over 600 families 50 weeks of the year.

Job Purpose

Already with at least 3 years’ experience working within a retail environment with responsibilities, and the ability to communicate well in English, your role will be to support both the Manager and Assistant Manager in providing excellent customer service as well as undertaking all appropriate duties to ensure continued operation of the shop in their absence.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager and Assistant Manager

  • Assist in maximising shop income, including production targets, upselling and pricing

  • Proficiency in numeracy to undertake any administrative and financial procedures as directed by the Shop Manager or Assistant shop Manager including ability to add up, take payment and offer change, banking,security of stock and cash on the premises and to report any shortfalls to the Shop Manager

  • Receiving, sorting and preparation of stock

  • Ensure security of the premises

  • Ensure premises are always clean and tidy

  • Make certain that stock is displayed in an attractive and presentable manner.

  • Comply with safe working practices in line with Health & Safety at Work Act

  • Work with volunteers, encouraging an interest in the shop and the work of the LASC

  • Maintain good relations with the public and neighboring retailers

  • Average weekdays of work, Thursdays and Sundays

  • Provide holiday and sickness cover throughout the year in addition to your average weekdays of work

  • Attend meetings as required

  • Attend Training as required

  • Undertake any other appropriate duties as directed by Shop Manager to achieve performance targets and realise the potential of the shop.

  • Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all company information
